Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The elite Gaashaan unit of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) carried out a successful overnight operation in the Dhanaane area of Lower Shabelle, destroying a compound used by the terrorist group Al-Shabaab for storing explosives.
The raid followed confirmed intelligence that the site was being used to plan attacks against civilians. Security officials say the facility was completely dismantled, preventing potential threats to the local population.
This operation comes just weeks after a similar Gaashaan-led mission in the same area on June 3rd, during which a senior Al-Shabaab commander responsible for Dhanaane, Jilib Marka, and Gandarshe was killed.
