Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The State Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hon. Omar Ali Abdi, accompanied by the Chief of the Somali National Army, Major General Odowaa Yusuf Rageh, today officially bid farewell to the Minister of Defence of the Union of the Comoros, Hon. Yousoufa Mohamed Ali, the Chief of Defence Forces of Rwanda, General Mubarakh Muganga, and other high-level delegates representing member states of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF).
The farewell ceremony marked the conclusion of the 34th Ordinary Session of the EASF Policy Organs Meetings, which took place over five days in Mogadishu. The high-level gathering brought together political and military leaders from across the region to strengthen coordination and cooperation on peace and security.
Minister Omar Ali Abdi expressed his gratitude to all the delegations for their active participation and valuable contributions to the meeting, which focused on enhancing regional security collaboration, reinforcing the readiness of the standby force, and promoting joint political and military efforts among EASF member states.
“We look forward to continued collaboration in our shared security efforts to ensure lasting peace, stability, and prosperity across the East African region,” said Minister Abdi.
The successful hosting of the summit reaffirms Somalia’s growing leadership role in regional peacebuilding and its commitment to collective security through multilateral frameworks like the EASF.
