Beijing, (SONNA) – The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, has hosted a delegation of senior Somali government officials at the Somali Embassy in Beijing. The delegation comprises Director Generals and senior managers from the Ministry of Ports and Maritime Transport, the Ministry of Finance, and representatives from federal member state port authorities.
The officials are in China to attend a specialized training program on modern port management and advanced maritime technologies, which is being held in the city of Tianjin.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the strategic importance of the training in enhancing the knowledge and technical skills of Somali port personnel. The talks also explored opportunities for investment and infrastructure development in Somalia’s port sector.
Ambassador Dr. Hodan reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to facilitating and strengthening cooperation between Somali institutions and the Government of China. She emphasized the critical role such technical training plays in building institutional capacity and promoting sustainable partnerships in infrastructure development.
The visit and training initiative mark another step forward in Somalia’s efforts to modernize its maritime sector and attract international investment through skill-building and bilateral cooperation.
