Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, in its regular session held today, approved the appointment of members to the National Higher Education Committee, a move aimed at advancing quality and governance in Somalia’s higher education sector.
The 15-member committee, submitted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, is composed of distinguished scholars and education experts selected through a transparent and merit-based process. The committee will be responsible for guiding the development, regulation, and oversight of higher education institutions across the country.
The committee members are:

- Dr. Mohamed Ali Farah – Deputy Chairperson
- Dr. Ayan Sheikh Abdullahi Mohamed
- Dr. Ahmed Adam Mohamed
- Dr. Roble Ibrahim Liban
- Dr. Abdulqadir Abdulle Cibar
- Dr. Abdi Shakur Sheikh Hassan (Fiqi)
- Dr. Abdullahi Mahmoud Sharif
- Dr. Abdiwahab Ali Mumin

In addition to approving the committee, the Cabinet reviewed the restructuring of government institutions to align them with the federal decentralization law and national development goals.
The meeting also featured updates on ongoing security operations across the country, with ministers commending the Somali National Army and local allied forces for their sacrifices in liberating territories from insurgent control.
Moreover, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs was praised for its improvements in Hajj services, which contributed to Somalia ranking among the top countries providing high-quality support to its pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season.
