Mogadishu, SONNA – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hon. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Somalia, H.E. Sebastian Groth, to discuss ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen the enduring friendship between the two countries.
During the meeting, held in Mogadishu, the Deputy Minister welcomed Germany’s continued commitment to Somalia’s development and stability, particularly the renewed support for the “Security and Risk Management in Somalia” project. This critical initiative aligns with the longstanding technical cooperation frameworks agreed upon in 1979 and 2017.
The two sides explored additional avenues for collaboration in areas including security sector reform, institution building, and economic development. Ambassador Groth reaffirmed Germany’s intention to support Somalia’s efforts in achieving long-term peace and resilience.
Both parties agreed that the relationship between Somalia and Germany remains a cornerstone of international cooperation, built on mutual respect, shared goals, and historic diplomatic ties.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations and to continue working together in addressing both regional and global challenges.
