Beijing, (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mr. Abdisalan Abdi Ali Dhaay held bilateral talks with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Mr. Musalia W. Mudavadi, on the sidelines of the FOCAC Ministers’ Summit.
The two sides discussed ways to deepen the longstanding cultural and socioeconomic ties between Somalia and Kenya, with a focus on enhancing regional peace, stability, and prosperity. Both ministers agreed to fast-track the convening of Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meetings aimed at finalising key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) across various sectors.
Minister Ali expressed his appreciation for Kenya’s continued support over the past 25 years, particularly through the deployment of peacekeeping personnel under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
Mr. Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to good neighbourliness and reiterated Nairobi’s dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Also present at the meeting were Somalia’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Mrs. Hodan Osman Abdi, and Kenya’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Mr. Willy Bett.
