Algiers, (SONNA) — The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Bihi Iman Egeh, who is on an official working visit to Algeria, today visited the newly established Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Algiers, ahead of its official inauguration.
Minister Egeh was warmly received by Somalia’s Ambassador to Algeria, H.E. Yusuf Ahmed Hassan (Yusuf Jeego). The visit marks a significant diplomatic milestone, as Somalia has not had a permanent embassy in Algeria since 1991.
The Finance Minister is in Algeria to attend the annual general meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), currently taking place in Algiers. During his visit, Minister Biixi also held bilateral talks with his Algerian counterpart, where they discussed strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Jeego expressed his gratitude for the minister’s visit and emphasized the importance of the embassy as a symbol of Somalia’s presence abroad. He noted that embassies serve as the first impression for foreign visitors and therefore must reflect professionalism and national pride.
