Mogadishu (SONNA) – Mr. Da’uud Aweys Jama, the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, today held a productive meeting with Mr. Manuel M. Pereira, the Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Somalia, at the Ministry’s offices.

The core of their discussions revolved around enhancing collaboration on crucial public awareness programs. Both parties explored strategies to jointly develop and disseminate messages aimed at preventing human trafficking, fostering community reconciliation, and addressing other vital issues pertinent to the Somali population. This strategic partnership seeks to leverage the Ministry’s reach and IOM’s expertise to deliver impactful information campaigns.

Minister Da’uud Aweys Jama expressed his appreciation for IOM’s consistent support and strong cooperative relationship with the Federal Government of Somalia. He acknowledged the valuable contributions IOM has made in various sectors across the country.

In response, IOM Representative Manuel M. Pereira affirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding its activities within Somalia. He highlighted the positive strides Somalia is making in numerous areas, which he believes are fostering renewed hope and progress across the nation.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the importance of these collaborative efforts, paving the way for future joint initiatives. Officials from both the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and IOM were present at the meeting.
