Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. MP Yusuf Mohamed, hosted a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in his office today.
The high-level meeting centered on key initiatives aimed at strengthening employment opportunities and streamlining the management of Somali workers’ movement. Discussions particularly focused on establishing a robust Labor Market Information System (LMIS) and developing a comprehensive labor migration policy.
Minister Mohamed conveyed the Federal Government’s strong commitment to creating job opportunities, especially for the nation’s youth. He also highlighted the critical role an effective information system plays in guiding and optimizing the labor market. The presence of the Ministry’s Job Creation Department Director, Hon. Sakariye Abdi Hashi, also demonstrated the Ministry’s dedication to these vital programs.
This collaborative engagement between the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the IOM is anticipated to lay foundational groundwork for more organized labor migration and improved access to employment for Somali citizens, both domestically and abroad.
