Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Acting Minister and State Minister of the Federal Ministry of Health and Human Services, Dr. Maryama Mohamed Hussein, on Saturday welcomed a high-level delegation led by the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Pier Mario Daccò Coppi, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
The meeting was also attended by the Director-General of the Ministry, Dr. Guled Abdijaliil, and representatives from the Somali National University. Discussions centered around the implementation of a new joint initiative between the Governments of Somalia and Italy aimed at strengthening the healthcare workforce across both federal and regional levels.
The initiative will establish a high-level educational program—an Executive Master’s Program—designed to train health professionals in key areas such as efficiency, accountability, and service delivery. The program is part of broader efforts to build institutional capacity and enhance the performance of the health sector nationwide.
Dr. Maryama emphasized the Ministry’s strong commitment to the success of the project, expressing hope that it will serve as a model for future programs focused on improving Somalia’s health services.
