Istanbul, Turkey (SONNA)– The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Somalia, Mr. Dahir Shire Mohamed, participated in a high-level conference on natural resources held in Istanbul, Turkey. The event brought together global leaders to discuss energy transformation, sustainable mining, and international cooperation in the sector.
Accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Mohamed Hashi Arabeey, and Somalia’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Fathudin Ali Mohamed, Minister Dahir Shire engaged in discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in mining and clean energy development.
The conference, centered on the role of mineral resources in energy transition, featured ministers and officials from Niger, Libya, Hungary, Azerbaijan, and Saudi Arabia. The session was moderated by Turkey’s Minister of Energy, Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar.
On the sidelines of the event, Minister Dahir Shire held separate meetings with participating leaders to explore opportunities for strengthening partnerships in Somalia’s natural resource sector. He emphasized Somalia’s commitment to transparent and accountable development, ensuring that resource management benefits the Somali people.
“Somalia is ready to embark on a path of sustainable development, guided by transparency, accountability, and the welfare of our citizens,” stated Minister Dahir Shire.
The conference highlights Somalia’s growing engagement in global discussions on natural resource management as the country seeks to leverage its untapped mineral and energy potential for economic growth.
