Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) –Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre of the Federal Republic of Somalia has extended his heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to Somali workers on the occasion of International Workers’ Day. In his message, the Prime Minister emphasized the critical role workers play in the nation’s ongoing reconstruction, development, and stabilization efforts.

“The Somali government remains fully committed to protecting workers’ rights, enhancing their professional skills, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the betterment of our society,” stated Prime Minister Hamza. He described the annual observance as an important opportunity to recognize the dedication and sacrifices of Somali workers who contribute daily to national progress.

The Prime Minister outlined key government initiatives aimed at strengthening the workforce, including programs to improve vocational training and streamline systems that ensure better working conditions. “We will continue working tirelessly to expand job opportunities by upgrading workers’ skills and implementing policies that elevate labor standards across all sectors,” he affirmed.

In his address, PM Hamza also called on Somali workers to renew their commitment to excellence in service. “I encourage all workers to redouble their efforts in serving the Somali people with efficiency and dedication, as your work directly contributes to our nation’s bright future,” he said. The statement comes as Somalia continues to make strides in economic recovery and social development, with a growing emphasis on empowering its workforce as the foundation for lasting prosperity.

The government’s recognition of Workers’ Day shows its prioritization of labor welfare as part of broader national development plans, aligning with Somalia’s ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive and thriving economy.
