Mogadishu, (SONNA) – A mortar shell fired by Al-Shabaab militants struck a neighborhood in Mogadishu’s Xamar-Jajab district, killing one child and seriously injuring another. The children, who were siblings, were reportedly on their way to a Quranic school when the attack occurred.
Parents of the victims confirmed the incident to local media, describing the devastating impact the attack has had on their family. The mortar was believed to have been launched by extremist militants targeting the area.
The incident highlights the continued threat posed by militant groups to civilian lives in Somalia, particularly in densely populated urban areas.
