Beijing, (SONNA) – Somalia’s Ambassador to China, Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, participated in the International Chinese Language Day celebration held at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). The event brought together international dignitaries, including China’s Vice Minister of Education, H.E. Wu Yan.
Ambassador Hodan expressed her delight that the Somali language is being actively studied by Chinese students at BFSU. She also revealed plans for Somali universities to introduce Chinese language programs in the near future, aiming to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen ties between the Somali and Chinese peoples.
“Language learning is a powerful pathway to building deep relationships and lasting friendships,” said Ambassador Hodan.
The Chinese language continues to gain global prominence, with more than 75 countries officially incorporating it into their education systems. Additionally, over 500 Confucius Institutes operate in more than 100 countries, playing a key role in promoting Chinese language and culture worldwide.
