Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The elite Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army (SNA) have conducted a successful, well-coordinated operation in the district of Masaajid Cali Gaduud, located in the Middle Shabelle region, killing more than 15 members of the Al-Shabaab militant group.
The operation targeted key militant hideouts in the town center and surrounding areas. It involved joint airstrikes—carried out in coordination with international partners—and ground assaults by the Danab forces. Among the assets destroyed during the mission were three vehicles, including two military trucks and one ambulance, which the militants had repurposed for illicit operations.
During the operation, Bashir Ahmed Dhuxul—commonly known as Bashir Caadle—was also killed. He served as the “Amir of Da’wah” (head of propaganda and recruitment) for Al-Shabaab in the Middle Shabelle region. Known for his active role in spreading extremist ideology and orchestrating recruitment campaigns, his death marks a significant blow to the group’s leadership and propaganda machinery.
The Danab forces executed the mission with precision, targeting crucial militant strongholds used for staging attacks and hiding operatives. The militants, caught off-guard, fled in disarray, leaving behind numerous bodies and injured fighters.
The Somali National Army Command confirmed that the operation is part of a broader strategy to eradicate terrorism and restore stability and peace across the country. The Federal Government of Somalia reiterated its warning to terrorist elements that any threats against the Somali people will be met with decisive force and zero tolerance.
