Mogadishu, (SONNA) – International partners have welcomed the national dialogue initiative extended by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, inviting political leaders and community figures to contribute their perspectives and efforts toward the fight against Al-Shabaab and the construction of a modern, democratic, and federal Somali state.
In a joint press release, the partners also commended the ongoing military operations to liberate the country from Al-Shabaab, which have significantly weakened the terror group and eliminated several of its top commanders and fighters posing serious threats to Somali civilians.
“We commend the resilient men and women of the Somali Security Forces and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) for their commitment to preventing the expansion of Al-Shabaab in Lower and Middle Shabelle. We remain committed to supporting the Somali government and people in their pursuit of a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous nation,” the statement read.
