Addis Ababa, SONNA– The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, held a high-level meeting with Dr. Senait Fisseha, Vice President of Global Programmes at the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, to explore ways of deepening collaboration in advancing Africa’s health sector.

The discussions centered on strengthening partnerships to improve healthcare access, enhance maternal and reproductive health services, and bolster disease prevention efforts across the continent. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable health interventions that align with the AU’s Agenda 2063 and global development goals.

H.E. Youssouf commended the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation for its impactful work in Africa and emphasized the importance of strategic alliances in addressing pressing health challenges. “Collaboration with key partners like the Buffett Foundation is critical to achieving equitable and resilient health systems in Africa,” he stated.

Dr. Fisseha highlighted the Foundation’s dedication to supporting African-led health initiatives. “By working closely with the AU, we can amplify efforts to ensure women, girls, and vulnerable populations have access to quality healthcare,” she said.

The meeting underscored the need for increased investment in health infrastructure, innovation, and policy frameworks to drive long-term progress. Both parties agreed to enhance coordination in implementing programs that improve health outcomes continent-wide.
