Somali Government Warns Jilib Residents to Avoid Militant Target Areas Amid Ongoing Operations

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Federal Government of Somalia has issued a warning to residents of Jilib, urging them to steer clear of areas being targeted in ongoing military operations against militants. This comes after Somali National Army (SNA) forces, in coordination with international partners, carried out a large-scale attack on militant strongholds in the district.

The strike inflicted heavy losses on the militants, with reports indicating significant damage to their infrastructure used for planning attacks against civilians. In a sign of their defeat, some members of the group have indirectly acknowledged the losses through social media.

Officials confirmed that no civilian casualties were reported in the operation, which is part of a broader offensive aimed at eliminating the remaining militant pockets across Somalia.

The Somali government reiterated its call for civilians in Jilib and other areas used as militant hideouts to distance themselves from potential targets, ensuring their safety as operations intensify.

Recent military campaigns have dealt significant blows to the militants, with Jilib remaining a primary focus due to its role as a key planning hub for attacks against peace and stability in the region.
