Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) conducted a successful operation in the Middle Shabelle region, resulting in the death of 16 Al-Shabaab militants, including leaders and fighters. The operation targeted a group of militants operating in the area near the village of Basra.
NISA confirmed that the airstrike was part of a coordinated effort to dismantle the terror group’s presence in the region. The agency reported that the operation dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab, eliminating key members of the group.
In addition to the fatalities, the operation also led to the destruction of combat vehicles used by the militants. NISA’s actions demonstrate ongoing efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab’s capabilities and ensure the security of Somalia’s citizens.
