Minister Robow: Mogadishu is Not Kabul or Damascus

Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mukhtar Robow Ali, alongside several Somali religious scholars, held a press conference in Mogadishu to discuss the ongoing operations aimed at eradicating the Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia.

Minister Robow highlighted that both the Ministry and the scholars are united in supporting the nation’s heroes (SNA) and local forces, stressing that it is religiously wrong to distort the truth about the rightful battle to defend Islam and the honor of the Somali people.

Minister Robow directly addressed Al-Shabaab, stating that Kabul and Damascus are not Somalia. He pointed out that Al-Shabaab lacked the strength to challenge the Somali National Army and local forces, instead resorting to spreading false messages, which ultimately failed.

“Mogadishu is not Kabul or Damascus, and the militants are not as strong as they were,” Minister Robow asserted.

Sheikh Ali Mohamud Hassan (Sheikh Ali Wajiis), one of the Somali scholars present, reaffirmed the scholars’ position on the fight against Al-Shabaab, urging the government and the public to unite in liberating the country from these militants who have distorted the true teachings of Islam.

Other scholars who spoke at the press conference emphasized the importance of supporting the Somali National Army and local forces fighting Al-Shabaab on the frontlines. They reiterated that eliminating Al-Shabaab is a religious duty and essential to protect the country from further corruption and turmoil.

The Al-Shabaab militants, who had been causing instability in the Shabelle region, recently suffered significant setbacks, losing key leaders who had caused immense suffering to the Somali people.
