Cairo, SONNA – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre of the Federal Republic of Somalia participated in the Arab League leaders’ meeting held in Cairo, where he reiterated Somalia’s strong support for the Palestinian cause.
The discussions primarily focused on the dire situation in Gaza, particularly the need for reconstruction and a sustainable solution to the ongoing crisis. PM Hamza firmly rejected Israel’s recent statements regarding the displacement of Palestinians, emphasizing that such actions constitute clear violations of international law, human rights, and existing agreements.
“The Federal Government of Somalia stands in full solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for an independent state,” he stated, praising their resilience in the face of adversity.
Beyond the Palestinian issue, the Prime Minister addressed the crises in Sudan and Syria, reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to the stability and territorial integrity of both nations while advocating for non-interference in their internal affairs.
In his remarks, PM Hamza also expressed gratitude to Arab nations for their continuous support to Somalia in the areas of security and humanitarian assistance. He called on Arab investors to explore opportunities in Somalia’s agriculture, livestock, and energy sectors to foster long-term development and economic growth.
