Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA) Ground Forces, General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, visited frontline troops in Qoryaale, a village under Jalalaqsi district in the Hiiran region, as part of efforts to intensify military operations against Al-Shabaab militants.
Accompanied by Hirshabelle state officials, including Vice President Yusuf Ahmed Hagar (Dabageed), General Sahal met with the brave local forces, known as “Xaq u Dirir,” who have been instrumental in supporting the national army in the fight against terrorism. He commended their courage and sacrifice in defending their homeland against extremist threats.
During the visit, General Sahal reaffirmed the Somali government’s commitment to standing by these fighters, pledging continued support in the form of logistical aid, supplies, and emergency medical assistance for the wounded.
The brave local forces have played a crucial role in ongoing operations to eradicate Al-Shabaab from Somalia, working alongside the national army and regional security forces.
This visit underscores the Somali government’s ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist threats and restore stability in liberated areas.
