Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has assured the Somali public that all domestic and international flights will proceed as scheduled on January 22, 2025. This announcement comes in response to misinformation circulating on social media suggesting potential disruptions to flights.
The Federal Government of Somalia remains committed to addressing the needs of travelers, both domestically and internationally, and ensuring their rights and safety are upheld.
In a statement, SCAA clarified the situation, citing two key measures that had been implemented to safeguard passenger safety and improve operational standards:
1.Operational Orders Issued to Airlines: The SCAA, in collaboration with Aden Adde International Airport management, issued directives targeting airlines without properly assigned aircraft. These airlines had been collecting passengers without adequate preparation, leading to significant passenger complaints and safety concerns (refer to attached documentation).
2.Inspections of Domestic Aircraft: Following thorough inspections, the SCAA identified safety issues in some domestic aircraft, which prompted the authority to suspend their operations until the necessary legal and technical maintenance is completed.
The SCAA reiterated its commitment to supporting airlines in complying with regulations to ensure safe and efficient services. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and the SCAA remain ready to assist airlines in meeting the necessary standards to serve the public effectively.
The statement highlights the government’s dedication to ensuring the safety and convenience of Somali travelers while dispelling unfounded rumors that may cause unnecessary alarm.
