Mogadishu (SONNA): In a commendable display of patriotism and community spirit, a group of young volunteers has launched a clean-up campaign at Liido Beach in the Banadir region. The initiative, spearheaded by responsible youth from the MBDO organization, aims to restore the beauty of the capital’s coastline and improve the well-being of the community.

The volunteers successfully removed bags and garbage from the beach, addressing pollution that negatively impacts both people and marine life. This effort is part of a broader campaign to enhance the environmental health and aesthetics of Mogadishu.

Several young participants who spoke to the national media expressed their commitment to continuing the clean-up efforts. They highlighted previous similar initiatives in camps for displaced people in Mogadishu, showcasing their ongoing dedication to social issues.

The campaign’s timing coincides with an improved security situation in the capital, encouraging many Somalis to visit Liido Beach for leisure. The youth-led clean-up not only contributes to a cleaner environment but also reinforces the community’s resilience and unity in the face of challenges.

This initiative shows the crucial role of youth in driving positive change and fostering a sense of responsibility towards their environment and fellow citizens.
