Tokyo, November 25 (QNA) – An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Monday the Izu Islands, south of the capital Tokyo, Japan.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 24 km.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake.
Japan is prone to frequent earthquakes due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire where four of the Earth’s tectonic plates converge. The country sees more than 20% of the world’s most violent tremors every year.
