Mogadishu (SONNA): The Economic Development Department of the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development convened a crucial meeting today in Mogadishu to discuss the upcoming Economic Policy Conference slated for next year. The event, officially opened by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Mohamed Shire, centered on evaluating current economic policies and formulating effective recommendations to boost Somalia’s economic development.

The forum zeroed in on three primary areas: an in-depth analysis of the country’s economic indicators, the exchange of data-driven recommendations, and the enhancement of inter-agency cooperation. These discussions are pivotal in laying the groundwork for the forthcoming Economic Policy Conference, which aims to refine and implement robust economic policies for the nation.

Participants, including representatives from various government agencies, seasoned economic experts, and distinguished guests, engaged in productive dialogue. This collaboration is expected to lead to substantial and long-lasting improvements in Somalia’s economic landscape.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Shire emphasized the importance of standardized procedures for preparing annual accounts in alignment with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). “Adhering to these standards not only enhances our financial reporting but also reinforces public trust and transparency in our economic systems,” he said.

Furthermore, the forum provided a vital platform for fostering cooperation and coordination among government agencies, aimed at bolstering the efficiency of production and essential services across the country.

Mr. Shire extended his gratitude to all attendees for their dedication to advancing Somalia’s economy. He particularly commended the Department of Economic Development for their meticulous organization and execution of the conference, underscoring its importance in driving forward economic policy improvements.

The insights and suggestions shared during the meeting are poised to significantly influence the strategic direction of Somalia’s economic policies.
