Mogadishu, SONNA – The Somalia Disaster Resilience Conference has opened in Mogadishu, bringing together key stakeholders for a two-day event aimed at strengthening disaster resilience across the nation. Jointly organized by the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and the University of Mogadishu, the conference is set to address strategies for mitigating disaster risks and enhancing community resilience.
The event is attended by high-level officials, including the Minister of Education, Farah Sheikh Abdikadir, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Hosh, and the Minister for Family and Human Rights Development. Bashir Mohamed Jama, The Commissioner of SoDMA, Mohamud Moallim Abdulle and other prominent community leaders in Mogadishu are also present, underscoring the collaborative approach to addressing Somalia’s disaster management challenges.
Over the two days, participants will discuss actionable steps to bolster disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, aligning with national efforts to build a more resilient future for Somali communities.
