Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre received a delegation led by the Deputy Director General of the European Union in charge of the African continent, Mr. Mathieu Briens.
The two officials discussed issues related to strengthening cooperation and relations between the European Union and Somalia.
The meeting focused on the support of the European Union in the fields of restructuring of Somalia’s security after the withdrawal of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and how to cooperate with the countries that support Somalia in terms of training and equipment.
Prime Minister Hamza briefed the European Union delegation on the country’s political, economic, and security developments and the fight against Al-Shabaab terrorist groups.
Mr. Mathieu praised the achievements of the Somali government and people in all parts, noting that the EU will continue to support the stability and security operations in Somalia.
