Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mohamud Moallim Abdulle has officially inaugurated a consultation meeting to discuss the establishment of the National Disaster Management Coordination Committee.
The DG of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia, Yussuf Samatar, Director Muhyadin Mahamud of the Regional Relief Department, and Deputy Chairman Abdirahman Galanbe from the Chamber of Commerce participated in the meeting.
The crucial event was also attended by representatives from regional ministries of humanitarian experts and senior officials from WFP in Somalia.
The meeting featured engaging conversations and presentations focused on having a collective and unified approach to humanitarian aid, emergency response, and disaster prevention strategies.
This collaborative effort facilitated by the World Bank, highlighting a strong commitment to addressing humanitarian challenges in the region.
The Commissioner emphasised that disaster management requires collaboration across agencies to effectively address the impacts on people, the environment, and the economy.
