Mogadishu University has officially launched a faculty dedicated to civil aviation studies, a milestone in Somalia’s higher education landscape. The inauguration event was attended by key figures, including the State Minister of Civil Aviation, Ahmed Jama, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Moalim, and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Aviation and Public Works, Abdillahi Geel-Qaad, among other dignitaries.
In his address, Ahmed Moalim, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, pledged comprehensive support for the new faculty, highlighting plans for collaborative training initiatives. He underscored the critical need for this program, noting that it aims to equip Somali students with essential aviation knowledge, bridging a gap that has long hindered the country’s progress in this sector.
Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Hassan Biday, Chairman of the Somali Universities Union, lauded Mogadishu University for its pioneering role in enhancing educational opportunities in Somalia, particularly in specialized fields like civil aviation.
