Mogadishu, SONNA – On Wednesday, Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhiyidin, Chief of the National Armed Forces, met with the British Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis, to discuss ongoing efforts to strengthen Somalia’s security sector. The meeting focused on several key areas, including the rebuilding of the Somali army and the United Kingdom’s continued support for these efforts.

During the discussions, both parties emphasized the importance of international cooperation in enhancing the capabilities of the Somali Armed Forces. The British Ambassador reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to assisting Somalia in its ongoing fight against terrorism and in stabilizing the region. The dialogue also covered plans for the rehabilitation of military camps, which are crucial for the effective training and deployment of Somali forces.

The meeting reflects the strong bilateral relationship between Somalia and the United Kingdom, particularly in the area of security. As Somalia continues to face challenges from extremist groups and strives to rebuild its national institutions, the support of international partners like the UK remains vital.

Major General Muhiyidin expressed his gratitude for the UK’s ongoing assistance and underscored the importance of these collaborations in achieving long-term peace and stability in Somalia. Both leaders agreed to continue their close cooperation in the coming months, with a shared goal of strengthening the Somali Armed Forces and enhancing security across the country.
