Mogadishu, SONNA – H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud embarks on a visit to Nairobi, Kenya, today to join other world leaders for this year’s United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) under the theme of ‘’effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution’’.
During the Summit, the President will highlight Somalia’s unique environmental challenges, particularly the climate-induced humanitarian situation in the country by exploring ways to work collaboratively with global partners to build a sustainable future for Somalia.
Additionally, President Hassan Sheikh will touch on the challenges hampering peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region. He will discuss how certain destabilizing unilateral actions threaten to exacerbate the worsening situation.
The President will engage in bilateral side meetings with heads of state and government and other heads of delegations to strengthen ties and explore opportunities for cooperation on environmental issues.
