The National Army, the Security Organization and international allies have successfully carried out a joint operation against the Khawarij militants in the Galgaduud region, according to a statement from the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
The operation, which took place on Thursday morning, targeted two locations in the areas of Jajar and Garabla, where the Khawarij had established their weapon storage and vehicle garage.
The statement said that the first operation destroyed the weapon storage center, which contained large quantities of explosives, ammunition and weapons. The second operation hit the vehicle garage, where dozens of armed vehicles were parked.
The statement added that the operation inflicted heavy casualties on the Khawarij fighters, who fled the scene after the attack. The statement did not provide any details on the casualties of the joint forces.
The joint operation was part of the ongoing efforts to eliminate the threat of the Khawarij, who have been waging a violent insurgency against the Somali government and its allies for over a decade.
The joint forces have vowed to continue their operations until they liberate the entire country from the Khawarij menace.
