Mogadishu, SONNA – Hodan Hassan, a Somali-American member of the House of Representatives of the state of Minnesota, met with the top leaders of the Federal Republic of Somalia in their offices in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
Hassan, who is one of the first two Muslim women elected to the Minnesota legislature in 2018, expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi and Speaker of the House of People Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobobe) for their warm welcome and hospitality.
She also shared with them the active role of the Somali diaspora living in the United States in advancing the interests and development of their homeland.
The Somali leaders praised Hassan for her visit and her achievements as a lawmaker in the US. They also urged her to continue to advocate for the Somali diaspora and to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
