Mogdisho, [SONNA] – The Somali Women journalists Rights Association has awarded three female journalists for their professional storytelling during the 16 days activism against Gender Based Violence against women.
The Award-giving ceremony in Mogadishu was attended by the Director General of the ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism Mr. Abdullahi Hayir Duale, representatives from Somali Women Association, Benadir Female journalists and the SOWRA leadership.
The Director General of Somalia’s Ministry of Information Mr. Duale has thanked Slovak Aid for funding the digital training on storytelling as well as its unwavering support to the female journalists in Somalia.
The winners of the GBV storyline during the 16 days of Activism of Geneder Based Violence against Women was announced by trainer Abdullahi Mohamed Hassan Black. Su’ad Abdi Aziz Tahir, Fartum Ahmed Muse and Safa Osman Abulle have won the top three positions respectively.
The Executive Director of SOWJRA Leyla Adeed Osman has praised the female journalists for the tangible improvements they have made during the training and their contributions to the 16 days campaign on violence against women. She also also pledged that SOWJRA will continue its commitment to the capacity building of the Somali women journalists.
