Mogadishu, (SONNA) – In a press conference held by, Colonel Saadiq Aden Ali (Dodishe), the Police Force Spokesperson, provided a detailed account of the events that unfolded in Mogadishu and across the country during the last five days. The briefing covered a range of incidents, reflecting the efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure safety and security for all citizens.

Colonel Saadiq commenced by shedding light on various security-related incidents, which transpired in regional administrations of the country and the Banadir region. On October 18, 2023, the police forces executed an operation in the Godinlabe area of Galgaduud region in the Galmudug Regional Government’s jurisdiction. The operation led to the apprehension of a vehicle known as “Nooha,” which was transporting food materials intended for the Khawaarij extremist group.

In a testament to the police’s role in conflict resolution, the Federal Government of Somalia and the Hirshabelle Regional Government successfully mediated between two communities engaged in conflict within the Adalle district of the Middle Shabelle region on October 21, 2023.

Major Saadiq also reported an incident on October 21, 2023, when members of the terrorists threw grenades at civilians while driving a Bajaj motorcycle in the Daynile district’s security department. Following this attack, the police forces took prompt action based on information provided by local residents.

The briefing further detailed the arrest of a suspect, Hadi Hussein Abdulle, at the Wadajir police station on October 20, 2023. Abdulle had allegedly stabbed a victim named Adnaan Ibrahim Samow in an attempted phone robbery.

Additionally, on the same day, the police arrested 14 suspects in Galkayo, Mudug region, accused of raping an 11-year-old boy. The Puntland Police forces conducted investigations, including DNA testing, to address this grave matter.

In the concluding portion of the press conference, Major Saadiq Aden Ali (Dodishe) disclosed a disturbing event on October 21, 2023, when a car full of explosives, orchestrated by Alshabaab, attempted to enter the capital and detonated at a checkpoint near Ceelasha Biyaha on the outskirts of Mogadishu. Tragically, the explosion claimed the lives of six individuals, including four security personnel and two civilians, while nine others were injured. Among the injured, five were security personnel, and the remaining four were civilians, according to the Police Spokesperson.
