Mogadishu (SONNA) – Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Abdikadir Mohamed Nur (Jama) met with US Chargé d’Affaires Colleen Crenwelge and other US Embassy officials to discuss the strengthening ties between the two countries, particularly the development of the Somali National Army and the fight against terrorism.
The Minister and Embassy officials also underlined the importance of military development and the fight against terrorism and the need to give special attention to the Somali army in order to ensure the overall security of the country.
The two sides also agreed that the military should be kept out of the political arena and focused on fighting terrorists who pose a threat to the country’s security and development.
Finally, the Minister thanked the United States and the European Union for their support to Somalia.
