President Farmajo calls FMS for consultative forum

Mogadishu(SONNA)-President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Saturday evening called leaders of the Federal Members States and Benadir region for three days consultative forum starting from 1st to 3rd Feb 2021, that will be held in Dhusamareb town, the administrative capital of Galmudug State, SONNA reported.

The consultative forum aims at to focus on ways to hold free, fair election as part of Somali Government’s efforts on the Sept. 17th elections agreement.

The President Farmajo assured members of the international Community including Somalia based Envoys of his Government’s commitment to uphold the electoral agreement signed on 17 September 2020 as ratified by the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

The President termed the progresses made in the polls preparation as a sign of his administration’s willingness to fulfill free, fair & transparent elections. This included the FGS-FMS agreement, approval of elections law, formation of Independent polls body and budget approval.

After the consultative forum between the Federal Government of Somalia, Federal Member States and Benadir region, the President is expected to address the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia on national progress particularly federal elections ahead.
