Mogadishu(SONNA)-More than 24 staffs from Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MOLSA) have today completed labor inspectors training course and have been awarded certificate of completion.

The training which is first of its kind after almost 30 years opens a new chapter for the trained staffs working for the ministry to respond on the needs in the field of labor inspection and facilitate in offering services to citizens.

While closing the training program, the Minster of Labour and Social Affairs, H.E Hon Sadik Warfa appreciated the role played by Prof Yusuf and his team in ensuring the staffs received proper training on labour inspections.

The aim of the training was to improve on the knowledge and skills of labor inspectors after the ministry noticed a gap and a need in providing efficient services in the field of labour inspection.

“The training was needful after we noticed high demand of requests of dispute resolutions from private sectors, employers and workers being addressed to the ministry for arbitration and so we decided to train staffs to respond to these urgent needs while enforcing the labour code,” said Minister Warfa.

The training which took two weeks gave the staffs an opportunity to learn on key areas such as labour disputes resolution, legality aspect, conditions of works issues, fundamental of occupational safety and health among others.

Senior advisor on labour relations, Prof. Yussuf Salad who was lead trainer reiterated on the need to continue training more staff to ensure we have more numbers of qualified competent civil servants positioned across the country.

“We have just completed the first phase, we have second round coming and we will not stop till we see our staff develop the actual knowledge to serve its citizens for better service delivery on labour inspection,” explains Prof. Yussuf.
