14 Al-Shabaab militants killed in heavy battle in Bal’ad town in middle Shabelle region

Mogadishu(SONNA)-At least 14 Al-Shabaab militants were on Tuesday morning killed and several others injured after heavy fighting between the Somali National Army and the group fighters in Bal’ad town in middle Shabelle region, about 30 Km north of Mogadishu, SONNA reported.

Spokesman of the Somali Ministry of Information, Ismael Mukhtar Omar told Somali National News Agency that one SNA soldier was killed and seven others injured during the battle in and outside the town early in the morning.

“SNA forces foiled terrorist militants’ attempt to overrun key administrative positions of Bal’ad town in middle Shabelle region early this morning, Our SNA forces killed 14 Al-Shabaab militants and injured several others and pushed them back”, Mr. Omar said.

He added that the situation of the battled town, Bal’ad is now calm and under full control of Somali National Army.
