Somali Government: We must unite to fight against Covid-19

Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Federal Government of Somalia is currently involved in two wars.
The first is one that the people of Somalia are all too familiar with, The al-Qaida puppet
organization that called itself al-Shabaab have murdered and terrorized the people of Somalia for
years.

The brave men and women of the Somali National Army have valiantly fought alongside
their East African brothers and sisters to push this group out of Somalia city by city and town after
town. These repeated setbacks in the field have made al-Shabaab desperate to discredit the Federal
Government, and so they have decided to use the Coronavirus pandemic as an opportunity to spread
lies and misinformation.

The Federal Government of Somalia rejects these lies and is closely working with the religious, military, and local leaders of our community to spread the truth.

Coronavirus is a disease that does not see religion, country, or race and attacks the most vulnerable
of our communities the hardest. While the Federal Government led by the Ministry of Health is
fighting daily to ensure that all Somalis are protected against this disease, each citizen of Somalia
must do their part to follow guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and to combat false
information that could lead to a further spread of the disease.

Our brothers and sisters around the world from the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem to Mecca are taking precautions to minimize the services because they know that they must protect the people in their community. Someday soon, this virus will end, and people will be able to return to their regular lives, but to ensure that this day comes soon, we must unite as a nation to fight against this new enemy.
