Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Environment and Climate Change H.E. Lt. Gen. Bashir Mohamed Jama joined representatives from the Federal Government of Somalia, AUSSOM, UNSOS, UNCT, and UNTMIS in commemorating World Environment Day 2025 at the Tukul in the UNSOS Compound, Mogadishu.
The event was held under the global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution” with the slogans “Restore the land, revive the earth” and “Heal the soil, renew the future.”
The program featured a tour of environmental initiatives, cultural performances, and remarks from senior officials, culminating in a symbolic tree planting ceremony.
His Excellency Lt. Gen. Bashir Mohamed Jama reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to tackling climate change and promoting sustainable environmental stewardship through collective action.
