Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Independent National Electoral Commission and the Boundary Commission are successfully conducting voter registration across 13 districts of Banadir Region as part of the country’s one-person, one-vote electoral process.
In districts such as Hodan, Kaaraan, Warta Nabadda, Yaaqshiid, Heliwaa, and Hawlwadaag, registration has entered its second day, giving citizens the opportunity to obtain their voter cards ahead of the upcoming elections.
Some residents who registered spoke to National Media, expressing their happiness at having the chance, for the first time, to directly elect their leaders.
Previously, voter registration had launched in seven other districts: Shangaani, Xamar Weyne, Shibis, Xamar Jajab, Boondheere, Waaberi, and Abdicasis.
Citizens are encouraged to register in their respective districts to secure their constitutional right to vote.
