Mogadishu (SONNA) – The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission today launched the distribution of voter cards in Hodan district.
Mohamed Amiin Hassan, Chairperson of the Sub-Committee for National Election Operations, announced that the commission has officially begun issuing voter cards in Hodan, where all registered voters can now collect their cards.
“I call on the public and all Somali citizens to come forward and collect their voter cards so they can participate in the upcoming elections. Today, we officially launched the distribution of voter cards in Hodan district,” said the Chairperson.
Abdikarim Ali, a person with special needs who collected his voter card in Hodan today, also urged citizens to take part.
“People, come out and get your voter cards. We are ready to serve you here in Hodan district,” he said.
The National Elections Commission previously launched similar voter card distribution in seven other districts of the Banaadir region. According to the commission, residents of the capital are expected to head to the polls on the 25th of next month for the Banaadir Regional Council elections.
