Mogadishu, (SONNA) — In a coordinated air operation aimed at dismantling a faction of the terrorist group ISIS, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), in partnership with the Federal Government of Somalia, conducted an airstrike within Somalia targeting militant activities.
The strike occurred approximately 70 kilometers southeast of Bosaso, in the Bari region of Puntland State, Somalia.
As the operation remains ongoing, efforts are currently underway to assess the extent of damage inflicted on the enemy and to finalize mission objectives. The primary aim is to support ongoing efforts by the Puntland Security Forces to eliminate ISIS militants from the area.
The Federal Government of Somalia commends the strong partnership it maintains with international allies, particularly the United States, in advancing peace, stability, and the fight against terrorist groups that threaten Somalia and the wider region.
