Mogadishu, SONNA – In a significant move to strengthen military cooperation, a high-level delegation from the Turkish government arrived in Mogadishu today. The delegation, comprising commanders of the Navy and Land Forces along with officials from the Turkish Ministry of Defense, was warmly received at the headquarters of the Somali National Army.
Defense Minister Abduqadir Mohamed Noor and Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin, the Commander of the Somali National Army, led the welcoming committee. The meeting was also attended by Admiral Abdi Warsame, the Commander of the Somali Navy, General Dayah Abdi Abdulle, the Commander of the Land Forces, and other senior officers of the Somali Military.
The visit is a key part of ongoing efforts to implement the recent defense and economic agreement between Somalia and Turkey. This pact aims to enhance the development and equipping of the Somali military forces, a crucial step for the nation’s security and sovereignty.
