Mogadishu, Somalia – The Director General of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Bashir Maalin Ali, engaged in a high-level meeting with Mr. Chen Wendi, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Somalia.
The meeting, which took place in Mogadishu, focused on enhancing cooperation and continued support in the critical sectors of transport, roads, and civil aviation. Both parties expressed a commitment to maintaining and improving training programs, as well as advancing the skills and experience of the respective staff members.
Highlighting the fruits of this partnership, Director Bashir extended his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for facilitating the training of 23 Somali Ministry employees. The training, conducted on October 10, 2023, covered essential aspects of transportation, technology, and road development. This initiative is part of a series of regular training programs provided for the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, aimed at elevating the standards of civil aviation in the country.
The meeting was also attended by the Directors of the Department of Administration and Finance and the Department of Personnel and Training of the Ministry, signifying the importance of the discussions and the collaborative spirit between the two nations.
This dialogue marks a step forward in the strengthening of Sino-Somali relations, with both nations looking to sustain support and development in the transport sector, which is pivotal for Somalia’s ongoing growth and modernization efforts.
