Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Thousands of people gathered at Engineer Yariisow Stadium in Mogadishu to demonstrate their support for the landmark Defence and Economic agreement between Somalia and Türkiye.
The gathering was organised by the Banadir Regional Administration and was attended by the residents of Mogadishu and Government officials.
The demonstration was held to support Somalia’s decision to sign a pact with Turkish Government for defence and economic cooperation between the two nations.
Government officials including Ministers, Members of the Parliament, staff from different departments and the civil society showed their feelings towards this agreement between Somalia-Türkiye.
Some of the demonstrators who talked to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) applauded President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed for the wonderful job he did for Somalia.
The agreement of defence and economic cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye is part of the government’s efforts in protecting the security, resources, sovereignty, independence and the territorial unity of the Federal Government of Somalia.
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia said that Türkiye is our ally and our brothers, and that we can trust them with the Defence and Economic agreement so that we can defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia.
