Thousands of internally displaced people continue to flow from Zamzam camp in El Fasher to Tawila region. About 93,000 people arrived on Tuesday, April 15, between six in the morning and ten in the evening. They arrived in complex and critical humanitarian conditions along the way, as the scarcity of water and food led to deaths as a result of thirst, hunger, illness and psychological trauma. These appalling conditions leave children, women and the elderly exposed to the sun without shelter or basic necessities.
Internally displaced people in Tawila are in urgent need of emergency services, including food, water, medical care and non-food items. The situation exceeds the capacity of long-standing residents and existing organizations.
We call on the United Nations, its agencies and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to rescue the displaced people suffering from deplorable humanitarian conditions in Tawila region by providing urgent needs.
