Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The 6th Somali Judiciary Conference has kicked off in Mogadishu with the presence of top officials from the three branches of the government.
The meeting will discuss the challenges and progress made in 2023 and set priorities for 2024.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Supreme Court, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the Attorney General and several other officials.
The Commissioner of the Banadir Regional Appeal Court, Saciid Ali Mohamed said, “The conference this year will focus of the corruption and its eradication from our country”.
The Attorney General said that the judiciary system last year dealt with crimes that were crippling the country.
The Minister of Justice, Hassan Moalim also gave a word at the conference and said, “The process of federalisation of the judiciary is before the parliament, and everything can be solved by completing the constitution”.
The Chairman of the Bar Association, Abdikadir Mohamed Muse said, “We will support the judicial institutions in fighting corruption in our country”.
The conference which will last for two days will discuss all matters of Judicial system in Somalia and federalising the system to State level.
The Chairman of the Supreme Court, Bashe Yusuf Ahmed said, “the judiciary is important for the existence of our people and the system of our government”.
The Speaker of the Federal Republic of Somalia, who arrived at the Conference talked about the judiciary system and the constitution of the country which has been put before the People’s Assembly, and said that the constitution will be read point by point next Month (February).
